The Bolshoi will be on tour in Peking from 24 April to 5 May

The Bolshoi will be on tour in Peking from 24 April to 5 May.
Performances will take place at the National Centre for the Performing Arts Opera Hall which has a seating capacity for 2400. The Centre, which opened in 2007, is a contemporary architecture icon in the Chinese capital.

All the Bolshoi Companies, including the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet and the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra, will be taking part in the tour. There will be a total of ten performances: four — of the opera Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Tchaikovsky; three — of the ballet La Fille du Pharaon by Cesare Pugni; and three of the ballet Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus.

This will be the Bolshoi Opera Company’s first ever visit to China. The Bolshoi Ballet Company last appeared in Peking in 2005. However, in March 2006, artists from the Opera and Ballet Companies, accompanied by the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra, gave two concerts in Peking to mark the opening of the Year of Russia in China. The concerts were held in the main auditorium (seating capacity 10.000) of the Great Hall of the People.
