Mavra

Credits

Igor Stravinsky’s undeservedly rarely performed comic opera Mavra and Tchaikovsky’s lyrical parable Iolanta - two treasures of the Russian musical theatre - are produced at the Bolshoi Theatre by Irina Brown (Great Britain), who has been critically acclaimed for her many productions in England and Scotland, and who directed numerous revivals of Andrei Tarkovsky’s legendary production of Boris Godunov both in Britain and internationally. A number of the Bolshoi leading soloists, such as Ekaterina Shcherbachenko, Anna Nechaeva, Mikhail Kazakov and Konstantin Shushakov, as well as performers from the Young Artists Opera Programme will take part in the double-bill under the musical direction of Kirill Karabits, the Principal Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (Great Britain) and a recent recipient of a prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Conductor Award. This young Ukrainian conductor, already widely known in the West, has conducted La Bohиme and Eugene Onegin at the Bolshoi Theatre to great acclaim.
