Dmitry Gudanov

Born in Moscow. In 1994, on completing his studies at the Moscow Choreographic College (today the Moscow Choreographic Academy) where he studied with Leonid Zhdanov, he joined the Bolshoi Ballet Company.
He rehearses with Yuri Vladimirov.

He took part in the Bolshoi Theatre’s New Year Premieres of works by young choreographers (1997), dancing in Eva Zamazalova’s ballet L’Estro Armonica, to music by Vivaldi.
He participated in the Bolshoi Theatre’s Studio of New Choreography project (2004), appearing in Alexei Miroshnichenko’s Hungarian Dances to music by Brahms.
On Bolshoi Theatre tours, he danced the part of Evil Genius in Yury Grigorovich’s production of Swan Lake.

Gudanov is the creator of the title role in Mikhail Lavrovsky’s ballet Nijinsky to music by Rachmaninov (2000).

Tours

He has appeared in Dreams of Japan in Japan, Georgia and during a Bolshoi Theatre season in Petersburg at the Maryinsky Theatre (1998).
He took part in an international festival devoted to the 50th anniversary of the National Ballet of Cuba (1998).
He made his debut in the part of Albrecht in Giselle in a Chelyabinsk Theatre of Opera and Ballet production (1999, partner — Tatyana Predeina).
In 2000, he appeared at the Ballets Russes Celebration Festival, in New Orleans, dancing excerpts from Nikolai Cherepnin’s Le Pavillon d’Armide (choreography by Fokine, Nikita Dolgushinn production).
In 2000, he participated in the international Stars of World Ballet Festival, organized on a regular basis by Vadim Pisarev, in Donetsk.
In 2000, at the Minkler Auditorium, Toronto, he danced Albrecht in two premiere performances of a Canadian Ballet Theatre production of Giselle (Nadia Veselova Tencer production; partner Anna Antonicheva).
Gudanov is a regular participant in the international Stars of the 21st Century project, organized by the Canadian impresarios Nadia VeselovaTencer and Solomon Tencer (these gala concerts, presenting ballet stars from all over the world, have taken place in Toronto, Paris, Cannes, New York, Tokyo). At one of these concerts — in Paris, at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees, Gudanov was partnered by Royal Ballet prima ballerina, Alina Cojocaru (2002).
In 2002, 2003, he appeared as The Nutcracker-Prince with Canadian Ballet Theatre, in Toronto (partner — Bolshoi Theatre soloist, Yllena Andrienko).
In 2003, he danced in Chopiniana at the Rudolph Nureyev International Festival of Classical Ballet, in Kazan.
In addition to which, he has appeared at international ballet festivals and gala-concerts in France, the USA, the Republic of Korea, Latvia.

Awards

In 1996, he was awarded 2nd prize and the Danse Noble jury press prize at the Arabesque Open Competition for Russian Ballet Dancers, in Perm.
In 1998, he won 1st prize at the International Competition for Ballet Dancers, in Paris.
In 1999, he was awarded the Moscow Debuts Festival prize (founded by the Central House of Actors) for his debuts in Fantasy on a Theme of Casanova, Paganini (main roles) and Dreams of Japan (one of solo roles).
In 2000, he was awarded Ballet Magazine’s Soul of Dance prize (Up-and-Coming Stars nomination).
In 2005, Gudanov was awarded the title of Merited Artist of the Russian Federation.
