Conductor

Andrey Lebedev graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg, where he studied choral conducting (Professor Kudryavtseva’s class) and symphonic and operatic conducting (Professor Martynov’s class).

He started his career in the Pushkin Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Nizhny Novgorod. When working in the Glinka Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Chelyabinsk, he staged a number of productions, including Verdi’s Rigoletto. The production was awarded a prize for the best conducting at the Scene-2003 Festival. As a guest conductor, he worked with the Mussorgsky Maly Opera and Ballet Theatre in St. Petersburg, the Rimsky-Korsakov Opera and Ballet Theatre and philharmonic orchestras of many Russian cities.

Andrey Lebedev has performed with famous instrumentalists, such as Knyazev, Trostyansky, Murzha, Diev, Lidsky, and vocalists, such as Vedernikov, Kazarnovskaya, Khibla Gerzmava. Currently he works as a conductor in the Krasnodarsk Musical Theatre and as the chief conductor of the Sochi Municipal Symphony Orchestra. Since 2006 he has worked in the Novaya Opera Theatre, where he conducts Verdi’s Rigoletto, Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and the production “Rossini”.

Andrey Lebedev has over 25 operatic and ballet productions and symphonic programmes in his repertoire.
